learning to cook

Connor has long been interested in cooking so this morning I decided to let him help me make some breakfast for us.  I am so proud to say that he didn't get a single shell in the bowl when he cracked the eggs ALL BY HIMSELF.  He even shredded some cheese on our grater (with a little help from mom to protect his fingers)

me: how would it make you feel if one of the kids at school said 'i'm smarter than you are'?
connor: sad.  because then they would be liars 

Report Card

Connor got his first report card today! He can be graded as follows:

M - More time/experience needed (he doesn't really know this)
L - Learning/Developing (he's learning how to do this)
E - Evident (he's definitely got this down)

I am pleased to say that he scored ALL E's except for in 2 areas, where he scored L's.  I am so proud of my big man!

Connor was pretending to be me so I thought I would see where it went and asked him how much various things cost. You'll all be glad to know that milk is only $1 now, cars are only $100, and houses are only $110.

Connor: it's a card that says "for Connor" in case you want to give me any treats in the morning
Mom: (laughing) oh ok, thanks.

CONNOR: can bugs get in m&ms?

MOM: yep, they sure can

CONNOR: bugs can't get in small m&ms

MOM: actually they can get in the package

CONNOR: well they can't get in DNA cause they can't even see DNA

This morning as Connor and Matt were on their way out the door, Connor says to Matt, "Wait Dad! I have to put this eyelash on my dresser!"

Earlier, when he saw a ziploc bag on our dresser, he picked it up. When Matt took it away from him, he got really concerned, "But DAD! There's AIR in that bag!"

7:10pm - Connor is put to bed
7:12pm - "I had a bad dream!"

"Hey Dad, I can lift up this fridge, watch."
(tries to pick up from the bottom)
"Ugh, this one must be glued."

"hey mom, i got an owie. there's a bandaid on my ribstage"

school update

Connor is doing great in school so far.  He's already ahead of the other kids with counting and knows a good majority of his popcorn words (the 100 most common words that pop up in kids books).  He's learning how to write all the letters of the alphabet, properly, too.  Each week he has a homework packet that he brings home on Monday and turns in on Friday.  The writing portion takes some time for him, but the rest of it he just breezes through.

He loves all the fun stuff he's learning and is really proud of all the things he knows. He even tells me all the time, "Did you know that I know everything, Mom?"  Must be nice. haha

One of the fun parts about being home during the day...being able to give my boy fresh chocolate chip cookies while he's doing his homework. 

Connor's 1st day of Kindergarten

Connor's birthday fell just past the public kindergarten cut off, so we have him in a private kindergarten for this year to give him a head start. Here are some pictures from his first day.

Connor spent the night at Grandma's house last weekend and got to see how much fun it was to roll around in the mud.  Once he finally realized that he was allowed to get dirty, he got kind of crazy...
