Getting Comfortable

Connor seems to be adjusting to his school finally. This morning he didn't even cry when I dropped him off. He hesitated a bit when I said I would see him later, but with the encouragement of his teacher, he turned around and went to help her open the blinds.

We're pretty excited about his new school and think he will do very well here. And nothing makes us happier than knowing how quickly he's adjusting.

Trip to the Zoo

This last weekend, Connor and Matt went to the Zoo for a Daddy/Son trip. They had a great time.

Drew Barrymore

The other night Matt was watching The Wedding Singer on TV. Connor isn't usually interested much in TV so he was just playing with his toys and stuff in the living room. Apparently, though he saw something he liked because when Drew Barrymore came on screen, he climbed up on the TV stand (2 inches off the ground) and planted a kiss on Drew Barrymore through the TV. It was so hilarious!

ready for potty training?

Just this weekend, Connor has been telling us "poo-poo" and pointing to his diaper immediately after he goes. This is pretty exciting because it mean he is one step closer to potty training. If we can get him to tell us before he goes, then theoretically it should be easy to get him trained in that respect. Since he started showing an awareness of it, we also started having him stand in front of his Peter Potty (a little boy urinal) just before bath time. He's so funny because while he hasn't gone in it yet, he does push his front into the right area as he would if he were using it.

I'm sure it's going to be a long process, but it's pretty cool that he's showing signs of being ready already. I didn't think he would for quite a while.

new words

Connor latest word is "broke". Anything that is not where it's supposed to be is "broke". This morning, he threw his cheerios on the ground then looked at me and said "broke!" For Matt this is a little bit of de ja vu because Cana did EXACTLY the same thing when she was a toddler.

The other new word Connor learned was bubbles. I gave him a long bubble bath the other night and he was playing with all the bubbles in the bath. I asked him if he could say "bubble" and he did...perfectly. I was so excited that I called Matt in to hear him say it too. We are so proud!

4th of July

The 4th this year was SO much fun with Connor. We went to the parade in the morning and had Nana over in the evening to do fireworks. I wasn't sure how Connor would react to the fireworks because he was so young last year, but he loved them. He kept saying "oooh" and "wow" to all the fireworks that Matt would light in the street.

He also had his first experience with sparklers, which was probably the best part. I would light up a sparkler and hand it to him...sometimes he would swing his arm around and around with it and other times he would just hold it and stare. The first time he had one he tried to touch the flame on the end of it, but I told him it was HOT and he understood. After each sparkler he would run over to the bucket where we were putting out the fireworks and put his dead sparkler in the bucket then run over to me to get another one.

At one point, he was anxious to get another sparkler so he ran and threw his still working sparkler in the bucket making the whole bucket glow on the outside. lol.
