Doctor's Appt
Connor had his 4 month check up yesterday. Good news is that he is growing big and healthy. He weighs almost 16lbs and is 25 1/2 inches long. Last check up he was in the low 50s percentile for weight and height, but this month he's in the low 70s. We're hoping that means he'll be taller like his daddy instead of short like his mom. :)
The bad news is he had to get shots. :( He did pretty good, I think. (Especially since I don't have anything to compare it to.) He cried for about a minute, and then he was all smiles again before the nurse even had the chance to finish cleaning up. He was a little fussy the rest of the afternoon and only wanted to nap in my arms, but at least he didn't develop a fever or any other symptoms as a result.

Oatmeal
Scratching
The other night after Connor woke up to eat, I laid him back down in his crib to go to sleep. He wasn't really feeling like sleeping though, and wanted to play a bit. I, however, was dead tired and went back to bed. A few minutes later I could hear a "scratch, scratch, scratch". I tried for a minute or so to figure out where the noise was coming from. After a few minutes, I got up and realized it was Connor scratching the bumper on his crib. He wasn't asleep, but he was content to lay there and enjoy the new sound and feelings he has just discovered. After about 15 minutes of me trying to tune it out, though, I finally had to get up and move him away from the side so I could get some sleep.
Florida Alligator
Connor's Grandma Sandi recently went on a cruise that started out in Florida. She wanted to pick up a "Florida alligator" for Connor. So she found a cute teal color one and picked it up. Turns out her eyes weren't working so well, because it's actually a dragon. In any case, Connor really likes it. His favorite thing to do is try to eat the tail. Here's a pic of him enjoying his new toy.
Feet
In the last week or so, we've noticed that Connor has found his feet. He likes to grab on to them and kick them up towards his face. There is hardly a time now that he lays with his feet on the ground...he much prefers them in the air, near his face. This is most annoying when trying to change his diaper. As anyone knows who has changed a diaper, the feet being in the air doesn't exactly make this easy.

Work of Art
THIS is my present from Connor for my first Mother's Day. This picture was done entirely by Connor. Matt bought some finger paints and let Connor plop his hands down in the colors he wanted (or really the one closest to his hand). Then Matt held him up over the paper and let him move his hands where ever he wanted. The red portion in the top right was the first one he did. Matt said he was mildly interested until the paper was turned and he used the green on one hand and the red on the other. Then he started realizing that the colors on the paper were following his hands. After a while, Matt rinsed him off and put his hands in the blue and yellow. Apparently, he was very interested in this because he even ended up mixing the colors, creating his own shade of green. This is by far, the best Mother's Day present (other than Connor himself, of course.)
Laughing
Yesterday, Matt and Connor were playing peek-a-boo in the living room. I have never heard my son laugh as much as he did at that point. He was cracking up for a couple of minutes. We were able to a get a solid minute of it on camera, but unfortunately I can't show video clips on here. If anyone is interested in seeing it, let me know and I'll email it you.
Still Standing....
Knowing how much he likes to stand, we propped Connor up against the couch and let him stand there, to work on his balance. Here's one of the many pictures we were able to snap because he stood there for so long. Each time, he would stand there for 20-30 seconds before toppling over to one side. The funny thing was that when he fell, his legs never buckled, so he fell over like a tree that had been chopped down.

Standing
Ok, so I know this is REALLY early, and Matt and I were just as surprised as everyone else probably is, but our boy stood!!! He was holding on to his little gym while Matt held it steady so it wouldn't fall over. Granted, he only was upright for a couple of seconds, but even still!!! We've always thought he might walk early, but now we're convinced. Here's a pic that I was able to snap before he toppled over.

And for those who don't keep track of his age, he's only 3 1/2 months old.

First Laugh
On Monday, while I was making dinner and chatting with a friend of ours, Matt was in the bathroom playing with Connor in front of the mirror. He likes to show Connor himself in the mirror then try to help hi draw the connection between himself and the image of himself. This time, Matt was saying "Hi" in a fast I'm-trying-to-shock-you kind of way, and apparently Connor found it hilarious, because he started giggling. Matt yelled down the hall for me to come check it out, and sure enough, my boy was giggling. It was sooooo cute! I'm amazed at how exciting these firsts are for me. Easily the coolest things I've ever experienced.
First Food
Connor has shown so much interest in food that we're eating that Matt and I decided to start giving him small amounts of rice cereal in the evenings. April 30th was the first time and boy was it messy. Matt held Connor in his arms while I gave him small bites of cereal. He found that it was much more fun to put his hand in his mouth right after he spit some of the cereal out. I'm sure this will get less messy (or maybe more when he realizes he can grab the food) as time goes on, but for now I think we will have to feed him in a diaper only....to be immediately followed by a bath.
