My Son, The Ninja

It's about 8:30pm. Connor was put to bed about an hour ago. Cana's finishing up her laundry in the laundry room while Sabrina and I are down the hall in the living room. Connor sneaks out of bed and into the laundry room, turns off the light while Cana's still in there, shuts the door on her, and runs back into bed, sight unseen. My son, ladies and gentlemen.

Table Talk

At dinner last night we were all talking about something when Connor instantly changes the subject and says, "Well llamas have really big necks." I asked him if he was learning about llamas in school. He said he wasn't and for a few minutes he wouldn't tell us where he learned about them. Then, finally, he says, "On some episode of Diego, there was a llama and he had a really big neck to reach up into the trees."

matt: c'mon Connor, don't hide behind your mom. Chicken! boq boq boq!
connor: [seriously] are you my pet?

the chain

yesterday, while Connor was supposedly napping, I went into my driveway to welcome my friend and his daughter who was I was going to be watching. We walked back to the house together and when I go to open the door, I find that the chain is locked on it. Apparently, Connor was not sleeping and is tall enough to reach the chain lock now. I was freaked out at first, but he was pretty proficient at unbolting it as well so I didn't have to break any windows.

Scottish Games

my little braveheart

the things they say

at the dinner table last night

Connor: Can I have jam now on my biscuit?
Matt: Sure. [gets some jam on the butter knife]
Connor: I can do it myself, dad. [takes the butter knife and puts the jam on his bread, then sticks the knife in his mouth to lick off the jam]
Matt: Connor!
Connor: [very serious] did I scare you Dad?
Matt: [trying very hard not to laugh, while mom doesn't try at all] don't put knifes in your mouth.

shopping list

(while at the grocery store)

Connor: Mom, can I hold your list?
Mom: Sure. (handing him the list)
Connor: I'm gonna read what's on your list.
(a couple minutes later)
Connor: It says we need candy.
Mom: (laughing) Um, I'm pretty sure we don't have candy on the list.
Connor: Yeah, look! (points to the word Cheddar at the top of the list) See that says candy.
Mom: (still laughing) No, that says cheddar, but nice try.

Later, he tried to convince me we needed bananas since they too were on the list (it was really burger buns), though I conceded on that one and let him get some bananas. boy, am i in for it when he can start writing lists for me.
