I'm pretty damn proud of myself, if I do say so. Not bad at all for a first effort. Anyway so now my boy is even more geared up (at this point I think he's keeping that Scottish red hair on purpose). I'll post more pics when I have a chance to get it all on him. Oh, and pay no attention to the baby cookie remnants all over the collar of my shirt in the second pic. Such are the hazards of babydom.

The Wee Sporran
So I made my boy's first sporran. From scratch. Completely. We looked online for some, but they're all ridiculously priced, so I thought I'd take a stab at it. Twenty bucks and three hours later, here's the results:

First Kilt
Here's a picture of Connor's very first kilt, courtesy of Aunti-Grandma. Matt is working on making a wee sporran to go with it, which should top it off nicely. I'll post some more pics when we get the whole thing put together. So, Thank You Aunti-Grandma for taking the time out to make this for Connor. We love you!

Practicing Crawling
We went to a friends' house for dinner last night and they have a little boy just a few months older than Connor. After talking about how Connor isn't crawling yet, they gave us some suggestions on encouraging him to crawl. We tried it out a bit last night, and in the few minutes of messing around with him, he went from not able to hold the hands-and-knees position for very long to being able to sit there and rock back and forth while on his hands and knees. Hopefully he'll be crawling pretty soon, but even if he doesn't, these are good little exercises to help build his muscles.
Grass
Yesterday we took Connor to the park for a birthday party and he had the chance to discover grass. He loves to grab at things, so the first thing he did was grab at it. When he figured out that he could pull it out, well then it was all over with. I think Elk Grove Park has a few bald spots now, where he ripped it clean of grass. He kept trying to eat it, though, and quick as we were, some still got in his mouth. (eww!) Eventually, though, he learned not to put it in his mouth. It was funny to watch the understanding fight the instinct. He would go to put it in his mouth and then realize that he wasn't supposed to, so he'd stop.

Learning to Move
Connor is starting to learn how to move around a bit. Right now, his primary method is rolling, but he's working his legs and trying to get them up under his body so he can crawl. I'm sure that it helps that there are a few kids at daycare who also crawl. I don't know if he'll ever crawl, especially since some kids don't...but it looks like he's trying to get places, which is really exciting.

To Aunti-Grandma's House We Go
Big Bath
Connor has officially graduated to a big bath tub! He kept trying to stand up in the infant tub that he has, so I decided that it was time to move him to a big bath. I thought about buying one of those transition tubs that he sits in and you fill up the bath like a normal bath, but he seems to do just fine without it.
What's up Doc?

Workin' on a schedule
Friday night we decided to work on getting Connor back on a schedule in hopes that he would start sleeping more in the night. To our amazement, it has been ridiculously easy. I expected that it would be difficult especially if the past few weeks were any indication. Apparently, the gods have decided to give us a bit of a break though. :) Lets just hope it keeps up this way!

No Sleep
I had always thought that when it came to being a parent, you would go through certain stages and then move past those stages. Unfortunately, that is not true of my boy and sleeping. Just about the time he started to sleep through the night, waking only once to eat, he reverted back to waking up twice, then 3 times. I know the 3 times can't possibly mean that he's hungry every time. Matt and I have gotten so little sleep it's comparable to the early weeks. We think it might be him teething again. But I would just like to say that it's not fair...we've already passed this stage...isn't the sleeping thing supposed to get better????
