understanding food

Matt was reading with Connor last night and they came to a picture of a chicken. Connor says, "We eat these. We cut them here (points to just above one foot), here (points to just above the other foot) and here (points to the neck)....and sometimes there are strawberries."

Not something you hear everyday

Sabrina, as she's picking out clothes for Connor to wear today: "Hey, quit putting stuff in your dresser drawers that aren't clothes. Not uncooked spaghetti noodles, not car decals, not toys, just clothes."

For St. Patty's Day, I made these cool rainbow cupcakes. Then one morning, I get Connor up to get ready for school and sit him down with breakfast. While I'm getting ready, I hear my bedroom door quietly close. I smiled to myself thinking that Cana had gotten up and was tending to Connor so Matt would be able to sleep. After I was done, I opened my door and saw Connor sitting on the countertop where I had left the cupcakes. What once looked like this....

I did my best to not bust up laughing. There he was, sitting on the counter by the stove, swinging his legs just enjoying the cupcake. And he was doing pretty well with it considering he hardly had any frosting on his face.

...and Cana was still sound asleep.

yay!

We've been working with Connor this weekend on listening the first time since it seems to be a problem for him. When he doesn't listen the first time ask/say something, he has to sit in his room. He'd been through a few of these Sunday morning so he knew what it was about when I put him in his room.

After a few mins, I went in there and made him tell me why he'd been sent to his room, then had him apologize for not listening. Very solemnly, he apologized to me. Then when I said he could come out of his room, he jumped up in he air with his arm above his head and yelled, Yay! I get to come out of my room!" You'd think we just gave him some awesome new toy. lol

"what'd you say to me?"

Connor has picked up this new phrase that he uses when he didn't catch what someone said, "what'd you say to me?" and every time he says it, it cracks me up because i hear it as an adult would say with attitude, even though he has no attitude at all when he says it.

Yesterday we were in the kitchen cooking while Matt was in the bedroom on his laptop and Matt said something to me, to which I replied "shut up, matt". Connor looks up at me and says, "What'd you say to my dad?" I lost it; I was doubled over busting up laughing, while Matt was in the bedroom doing the same.

rocks

matt is sitting in the living room telling cana how she used to bring rocks home all the time. while i'm in the bathroom tending to connor's bath, he asks me about a bowl rocks that we used to have on the washer. i told him i don't remember a bowl, but i do remember a lot of rocks coming through the wash. connor pipes in and says, "nu uh, rocks come from planet earth!"

so Connor is a huge fan of the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by Charlie Daniels Band. This morning, while we were listening to it in the car, Connor says, "I'm gonna take that devil went down to georgia to school." so i asked him how he was going to do that. He tells me that he's going to take my ipod and give it to one of the teachers so they can play it.

It cracks me up to hear him be so logical and for him to understand how things work at such a young age.
